Retired National Basketball Association player and 18-time All-Star Kobe Bryant is surrounded and followed by a crowd of fans as he tours Haikou City nike air vapormax saldi , south China's Hainan Province, on September 12, 2017.
Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant announced plans on Tuesday for China's first National Basketball Association basketball school, a development the 18-time All-Star says will improve the game in the country.

The NBA Basketball School-Mission Hills Haikou will be open to male and female players from junior up to professional level after its completion in 2019 and could help unearth the next Chinese basketball star.

Along with football, basketball is the most popular sport in China and Bryant said the new facility — construction begins later this year — will be a boon to the Chinese game.

"The Chinese youth will benefit from a complete approach to player development that combines NBA-quality coaching with NBA-level training," said the retired five-time NBA champion.

"I believe this partnership will lift the game of basketball to a higher level in China."

The 39-year-old was in the city of Haikou, on the southern Chinese island province of Hainan, to unveil the project.

Mission Hills Group will design and build the school and its six indoor courts, but it will be operated by NBA China.

The NBA already has three training academies in China for top male and female prospects.

NBA China chief executive David Shoemaker said in a Mission Hills press statement: "This groundbreaking NBA Basketball School in Haikou further builds upon our commitment to developing young basketball talent in China.

"We are delighted that Mission Hills Group shares our vision and are thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the government’s pledge to grow a sporting culture in Hainan Province."

Hainan, sometimes referred to as China's equivalent of Hawaii, already hosts a Barcelona football academy, also in partnership with Mission Hills.

BUDAPEST, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton had the fastest times in both of Friday's free practice sessions ahead of Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix Formula One (F1) heat in Mogyorod while Force India's Sergio Perez walked away from a horrendous crash.

In the first practice session, 30-year-old Hamilton completed the track in 1 minute 25.141 seconds, while teammate Nico Rosberg finished in 1 minute 25.250 seconds, down by 0.109 seconds. Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen was third with 1 minute 25.812 seconds.

The first session was red-flagged and held up for 17 minutes by Perez's accident in which the Force India car slammed into the barriers and flipped upside down. The 25-year-old immediately radioed that he was unhurt and climbed out of the car with help from track assistants.

In the second session Hamilton was clocked in first place with 1 minute 23.949 seconds, ahead of Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat with 1 minute 24.300 seconds and Daniel Ricciardo with 1 minute 24.451 seconds.

Hamilton's teammate at Mercedes was fourth with 1 minute 24.668 seconds, while Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was fifth with 1 minute 25.134 seconds.

Hamilton, who has won the Hungarian Grand Prix four times (2007, 2009, 2012, and 2013), currently leads Rosberg by 17 points in drivers standings, while Ferrari's Sebestien Vettel is third, down by 59 points.

Hungaroring, which is marking its 30th anniversary as a F1 venue, is 4.3804 kilometers (about 3 miles) long and counts as one of the slower tracks. It has a number of tricky twists and turns. The overall distance of the race is 70 laps or 306.63 kilometers.

Track temperature on Friday was measured at 59 degrees C (138 F), which will put quite a load on the tires.

There will be a third free practice session on Saturday followed by time trials. The Hungarian Grand Prix will be held on Sunday afternoon Central European Time.

LISBON, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Amid the cobbled hills of Alfama in the Portuguese capital, visitors can now see the city in 3D, through the oneiric vision of Portuguese filmmaker Edgar Pera.

Pera's "Lisbon Revisited" series, consisting of around 40 images, at first is seen in 2D but is soon transformed in 3D when using anaglyph glasses, offered by the Casa de Liberdade - Mario Cesariny where the exhibition is taking place.

The spectator is forced through a sensory journey to question his or her relationship with the city, from the viewpoint of a transhuman or alien.

"It (the film) started through a magic conjunction of a metaphysical reflection, with voices which occupy a garden," Pera tells Xinhua.

"My objective is always to create a form of art that is organic, a way of life, in the format of film or photography," Pera said. "Sometimes that is done by partitioning part of reality and demonstrating that even though we pass by gardens, or statues every day we are not aware of them, we don't give them enough importance."

Each photograph is accompanied by phrases like "To think is to be sick in the eyes" from poet Fernando Pessoa. The title, Lisbon Revisited, is also taken from a poem of one of Pessoa's alter egos, published in 1923.

The exhibition arose from a feature film Edgar Pera made with the same title, which was launched at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland in 2014.

"I'm from Lisbon and grew up in Moscavide and Olivais, so have a very close relationship with the city. I don't like to drive, I walk everywhere and I like to stop in Lisbon's gardens," Pera explains.

Pera started shooting his daily life in 3D in 2011, but has been filming his everyday life since 1985, when he purchased his first HDV video camera.

"I had the compulsion to film and register everything," Pera, who is known as Portugal's Man with a Movie Camara, (inspired by Dziga Vertov) admits.

Pera's first feature film was Manual of Ev.
